Ok, so that dress I was looking up the price for? 25,800 Yen. Which is currently $275.75 Aussie dollars.
Oh but it gets better. That first coat, the one where I was worried about the real fur? 53,800 Yen. Yeah, it more than doubles the price of the friggen dress, making it $575. I can almost definately say now that its real fur, if they’re charging that much.
The pink coat was a bit more reasonable *snicker* compared to the other coat, being $414.70.
And (yes I can begin my sentences with ‘and’ if I want to) if I ever had the sudden urge to buy the bonnet, i’d only have to hand over $155 friggen dollars. For a bonnet. Which I doubt I’ll see many people wearing in Japan anyway.
Suffice to say, I have a few words for Mary Magdalene…
I HATE YOU EXPENSIVE BOUTIQUE!!! GO TO BOUTIQUE HELL!!!

Haha, I’m like that too. I find it so hard to actually buy good clothes simply because I’m always pissed off with the prices =P

yea, but if you shop around you can find really awesome stuff for decent prices

The prices are pretty typical for tiny boutiques that only produce about a few dozen of each design and put them on a reserve-only sell list. Take a look at Milky Ange for comparison (http://www.milky-ange.com/ extremely adorable maid and lolita clothing!) and it’s all about same, save for the coats.
Oh, and MM uses faux fur (imitation mink). Don’t worry about it.
As soon as I have a stable income, a MM dress is probably one of the first things that I’ll buy. ^_^

Ahhh thanks for the info. I was wondering why MM had such little stock on offer. I wonder why the coats are so expensive though if the fur is faux?
I’m OMGing at the lolita selection at Milky Ange! You seem to know about the most awesome boutiques ever! Do you have a list that you wouldn’t mind sharing?
Although I’m not allowed to get a “competitive job” whilst on exchange, my visa won’t let me, I will be getting percentage of monthly payment from my parents for the work I do for them now. Hopefully If I save up enough while still buying my essentials, I will be able to buy at least one good quality boutique item over there!

Nope, Milky Ange and Mary Magdalene are the only two stores that I know of that feature clothing that I actually want to wear in public. ^^;; I’m always on the lookout for more boutiques that feature high-quality maid/Victorian style clothing, but they are easily outnumbered by the fetish and gothic lolita stores in Japan. >_>
I don’t like lolita much because it looks ridiculous on most people- Who’d want to go about everyday life while looking like a doll or theater performer in your 20-30’s? It’s still doable for people who can convince you that “I’m just 17-years-old~” Heavens forbid that I ever see an overweight person or someone in her 40’s still doing gothloli.
